The Baker Agency, a full-service, woman-owned communications agency, with offices in Albany, N.Y., Pittsburgh, Pa. and St. Petersburg, Fla., is seeking to hire an experienced, talented Director, Public Relations (PR) and Marketing to play a critical role within the agency, serving as the primary day-to-day strategic contact for clients while overseeing the successful execution of integrated public relations, marketing and video campaigns. This individual will manage client relationships, leads account teams, drive campaign strategy across a range of clients within the agency’s roster, including healthcare, hospitality, government, professional services, sports, education, technology, nonprofit and real estate.  

This individual will also work in conjunction with internal stakeholders to drive internal PR and Marketing strategy and execution across the agency.   

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker and proactive project leader who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment and is passionate about delivering impactful client initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute strategy related to marketing and PR campaigns on behalf of clients. 
  • Develop and execute branding, advertising and promotional programs on behalf of clients.   
  • Creation of press releases, speeches, pitch letters, cast studies, etc. 
  • Work across Baker PR team to brainstorm fresh marketing, PR, advertising and digital ideas. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on campaign execution, including the development of content and design to ensure campaign effectiveness. 
  • Develop timelines, agendas, media plans, and action items to drive press and social programs forward productively. 
  • Design and review a variety of promotional and marketing materials for the Agency and its clients.  
  • Create and manage marketing and PR campaigns across digital and traditional platforms. 
  • Conduct regular review and assessment of all materials to ensure accuracy and consistency. 
  • Monitor progress of marketing and PR campaigns to determine success. 
  • Determine KPI’s for clients and report on metrics. 
  • Establish relationships with current clients and attend key meetings, events, etc.   
  • Remain informed of marketing and PR strategies and trends.

  • Ability to produce and edit: press releases, media pitches, thought leadership articles, messaging documents. 
  • Successfully manage multiple clients, deadlines and deliverables simultaneously, while ensuring campaigns stay on schedule, on budget and within scope. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize work, manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to delegate work, provide feedback and mentor team members while maintaining quality control. 
  • Navigate unexpected challenges, shifting client priorities and tight deadlines with confidence and creativity. 
  • Understand client industries, competitive landscapes and how communications contributes to revenue growth. 
  • Understand how to track, measure and communicate PR results, including media coverage, engagement metrics and campaign performance. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field. 
  • 6–10 years of experience in public relations, marketing and/or strategic communications. 
  • Agency experience strongly preferred. 
  • Strong client management and strategic planning experience. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and organizational skills. 
  • Experience with media monitoring and PR tools (Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack, etc.). 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and in social media channels.
